Sneak Peak! Pondless Waterfall project in Asheville

Pondless Waterfall, Asheville Nc

We’re finishing up this Pondless waterfall here in Asheville, Nc

This is the 4th waterfall we have built on this property in 5 years.

This Pondless waterfall is approximately 200 ft long with a 60 ft total drop. It has a 5 hp external waterfall pump to circulate the system.

This is just a sneak peak of the falls that we just got running today. We still have a lot of edging work, pathways, stairs, bridges and landscaping to finish up in the next couple months. We’ve been on this project for 4 months so far.

The end result on this project will be to have a waterfall that flows down the whole length of the property. With about 350 ft of total drop and appropriately 600-700 ft of total length of waterfalls.

Waterfall

There are 4 separate waterfall systems so far, with probably 4 more to come. Each system has its own pump, but we’re built to look like one feature as you walk the property.

The most amazing part of this project is that there is no machine access on the property, so every stone has to be brought down by hand.

Outdoor Living Space

We have just finished a fun summer project in Asheville, Nc.

Asheville Patio

This project included 2 dry laid Stone bench walls with a recessed flagstone patio.

We added a natural gas stone fire pit for our clients to enjoy on a cool evening.

Our clients initially wanted this patio at ground level, but during the design process we thought it would be more cozy and inviting to sink the patio down and add a couple stone steps as an entrance.

Here’s a before and after pic.

Using Bridges in Water Features

We recently finished some of the edging work on the large pondless waterfall that we built last year. This included 2 wood bridges, a stone slab bridge and 2 stepping stones that help our client and his visitors enjoy the waterfall and surrounding landscape.

The waterfall in this video is off for the season, but I was excited to show some of the finished project.

We often use bridges in our pondless waterfall projects both functionally and as features. The bridge is a symbol of healing and connection. In some of our features we use stone slabs, in some wood or concrete.

Whatever material you use, using a bridge to cross you water feature will help people feel more connected to the landscape.

We have also done larger concrete structures over natural streams.

This type of bridge is much more functional, but can still be aesthetically pleasing.

Be sure to use structural material when building a bridge. Making it stout and strong so you can be confident that when you leave the project, the homeowner will not be left with a dangerous problem.

Feel free to contact me with any questions or to share some of your bridge projects.

Thanks!

Jacob
