Sneak Peak! Pondless Waterfall project in Asheville

Pondless Waterfall, Asheville Nc

We’re finishing up this Pondless waterfall here in Asheville, Nc

This is the 4th waterfall we have built on this property in 5 years.

This Pondless waterfall is approximately 200 ft long with a 60 ft total drop. It has a 5 hp external waterfall pump to circulate the system.

Asheville waterfalls

This is just a sneak peak of the falls that we just got running today. We still have a lot of edging work, pathways, stairs, bridges and landscaping to finish up in the next couple months. We’ve been on this project for 4 months so far.

The end result on this project will be to have a waterfall that flows down the whole length of the property. With about 350 ft of total drop and appropriately 600-700 ft of total length of waterfalls.

Waterfall

There are 4 separate waterfall systems so far, with probably 4 more to come. Each system has its own pump, but we’re built to look like one feature as you walk the property.

The most amazing part of this project is that there is no machine access on the property, so every stone has to be brought down by hand.

How to build a Pondless Boulder Fountain

Here’s a video on building a large bubbling boulder fountain.

We completed this project in Asheville, NC

Boulder fountains are a great way to get the relaxing sound of a water feature into your yard with minimal space used.

This feature only takes up about a 5×5 ft area, so they’re great for small yards.

In this video we will detail the full construction and installation process, will all tools and materials that you will need.

Rebuilding a pond and waterfall in Asheville, Nc

Pondless Waterfall

Our project the last couple weeks has been working on the rebuild of a failed pond and waterfall in Asheville, near the famous Biltmore estate.

Old pond and waterfall

The existing waterfall had failed previously and the homeowners had it filled in and abandoned it. We were contacted to try and revive the feature in the same footprint as the old one.

We were happy to help and recommended installing a Pondless waterfall instead of a pond and waterfall system. The Pondless feature would be easier to maintain for our clients.

Plus their main objective for this project was to hear the sound from the porch.

We will typically recommend a Pondless waterfall to our clients who are not necessarily interested in raising Koi.

Custom waterfall

The Pondless waterfall system will give you the beautiful sound and enjoyment of a water feature with all the maintenance included in having a pond.

With this feature we re-landscaped the project area and installed a new low voltage lighting system, including aquatic lighting so our clients could enjoy the waterfall at night.

Here’s a quick video of the project.

Give us a call anytime if you need help designing or installing a water feature of any kind.

Asheville Water Feature

Pondless Waterfall Asheville

We spent the last 6 months working on this large pondless waterfall in Asheville, N.C.

This water feature is 175 ft long and has 55 ft of total drop from top to bottom. We have painstakingly hauled approximately 150 tons of materials down a narrow steep trail all by hand. There was no machine access for this project.

Asheville waterfall

We created a 3600 gallon underground pondless basin to hold the water needed to circulate the system. We installed a 5 hp EasyPro external pump to create the awesome flow of water. To keep the leaf debris out of the pump, we set a Filtrific waterfall filter box into this system.

Filter, pump and pondless basin

We still have some finish work to do around the feature, but I was excited to share this update because I am so pleased with how it is turning out. We need to cap off the basin, install some more edging rock and landscape the project area.

Our goal in creating this water feature was to make it as naturalistic as possible. We wanted it to blend in with the existing landscaping and seem like it was always there.

Check back with us for more updates!!

Stone Veneer Asheville

We are in process of creating a custom pondless waterfall for our clients at First Baptist Church Swannanoa.

This is one of the few interior water features we have worked on.

It will be set at the entrance to the kids worship center in the church. I’m excited about working in this project and helping create a fun space for the kids.

The feature was framed into the wall with a raised pondless basin extending out into the room. The pump and filter housing is set in the narrow closet to the right of the feature.

We used an Iron Might 1/15 HP external pump for this feature. It was a tight space to plumb the pump into, but we did it.

We installed a 16 inch Aquascapes metal waterfall spillway into the wall.

Then we lined the feature with EPDM rubber liner. On top of the liner we laid DuraRock with a final waterproof coating on top.

Today we started laying veneer stone on the waterfall basin wall.

We will cap this wall with Gray Crab Orchard flagstone and install Aquablox into the pondless basin.

Check back next week for more progress.
